High School Youth Ministry (LinC)

A total youth ministry program designed to bring personal and spiritual growth to young people.

Dear Parents of High School Students and High School Students,

My name is Amanda Perfetto and I am the interim High School Youth Coordinator for St. Rita. I would like to welcome you to our High School Youth Ministry Program, LinC. I have been an adult volunteer with this program for five years and I was also a member of St. Rita Youth Ministry while I was in High School. This program is near and dear to me so I am excited to share it with all of you! We have a great year planned for all the High School students, with many of the same programs from last year and a few new ones as well. I am excited and blessed to have been given this opportunity and look forward to meeting you and getting to know you all.

LinC stands for Living in Christ, which is our goal within this program. The purpose of this program is to create a setting where Catholic High School teens can come together to grow in their faith, have fun, and most importantly feel comfortable in their faith. This year we will be bringing back weekly meetings which will meet on Sunday evenings. All high school students are welcome to participate; there will be time for those 9th graders preparing for Confirmation to mingle with the rest of the teens before their meetings. We invite you to join us Sunday evenings for small group discussions topics about our faith. There will be some social events planned as well as many service opportunities throughout the year. Most meetings will be held at The Space. The Space is located in the Solon Square shopping center, between Kumon and Radio Shack.  The attached calendar for exact dates and locations. We will have some sessions planned to help us dig deeper into our faith and help answer any of those questions that arise as we learn and grow in the faith.

Attached to this letter is the schedule for this coming year’s LinC activities and a sheet of the current available service opportunities we offer. A few of the social or service activities are tentative, but you will be notified of any change in the schedule in advance. We will be kicking off the year with our Fall Leadership Retreat Sunday October 4th following 10:30 mass. I have included a permission slip for the Fall Retreat, this is a great kick off to the upcoming year and I look forward to meeting all those who can attend. I will also include a consent form for our Fall Hayride/Cookout October 25th at Patterson Farms. If you have any questions about these programs please contact me. There are also plenty of volunteer opportunities for all the parents as well; we will be looking for chaperones and parents willing to carpool for some events.

We will also continue our Tuesday night bible study meetings. These are held at The Space every Tuesday; 7:15-8:15. Everyone is invited to attend, have your questions answered or just join us in deepening our understanding of Scripture. If you need a bible just let us know and we can get you one!

Some of our big service opportunities are Catholic Heart Work Camp, where a group of our teen’s link up with other parishes across the country and work for a week on various service opportunities. We also host Servants for Christ which is a 3-day community service retreat where we go out into our communities and help those in need. We are joined by local parishes on this retreat.

We encourage your teens to come to everything, but they are welcome to participate in any program/activity that fits his/her schedule and interests. Also, we provide enough service opportunities for those who need service hours for schools or other organizations to fulfill the majority of their requirements. If you have concerns about not meeting your service requirements for school, please let me know, and I can help provide or find other opportunities.  We would also like to get teens involved in the 10:30 mass so please let me know if you are interested in being a server or a lector. I hope all of the High School teens will want to participate and I look forward to getting to know all of them. If you are interested in having your teen be a part of this, helping out with the program, or have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , office: 440-248-1350 X 120, cell: 440-781-4554. I will send out emails periodically with information regarding upcoming events. If you are not receiving this email, that means I do not have your email or have an incorrect email. The email I currently have is the one that you have provided for the parish. If you would like your information to go to another email, please let me know as soon as possible. If for some reason you still are not able to get the email please look at the High School page on our Web site, there will be a newsletter posted every month.
