| The Second Vatican Council instituted the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA, some 40 years ago. Its history stems from the earliest days of the Christian Church and has been handed on to us. This Rite is understood to be the norm for all Initiation. |
| The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process through which adults are fully initiated into the Catholic faith community. Adults who have never been baptized, those who have been baptized Christian and those who have not been raised in the faith are invited to inquire into full initiation into the church. |
| The RCIA has developed into a Parish Ministry over the years and currently has a team of eight parishioners and the director who meet weekly with candidates from September through May. The gatherings include prayer, formation, and education that form the basis for conversion and initiation into the Church. The RCIA process is seen as the primary conversion process for our Church and parish. The Lenten Rites, Holy Week and Easter Vigil are the highpoint of life for our worshipping community. |
| Active members of the parish who might wish to walk along with the candidates as a sponsor or team member are encouraged to contact the rectory for more information. |
| The Rita of Christian Initiation of Adults is also adapted for children who are in need of baptism and have not been raised in the faith. Families in such circumstances are asked to contact the rectory. Parish members experienced in working with children on a catechetical/faith level are encouraged to be a part of a team that helps with the children's formation. Those interested can also contact the rectory. |
