| Sacrament of Confirmation |
| In past years, St. Rita has celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Second Grade as a part of the Restored Order of the Sacraments of Initiation. As of 2009, wishing to unify the Sacrament’s celebration within the Diocese, Bishop Lennon has recommended that Confirmation be celebrated no earlier than the Eighth Grade. Therefore, as of 2009, St. Rita will offer Confirmation formation to anyone entering the Eighth Grade or older. Given your circumstance (sacramental life and history of religious education) please read the following information to determine your process for Confirmation and contact the appropriate Staff person. |

| I need to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation! What do I do? |
| Depending on where your sacramental life and religious training have brought you, you may fall into one of the three following categories to prepare for Confirmation. Take a look and feel free to contact the appropriate person listed. We look forward to celebrating with you! |
- For anyone who has been Baptized and has celebrated their First Communion and is in Eighth grade or older (for example, 8th grade, high school or adult) and needs to be Confirmed, you would take part in the Parish Confirmation Formation Program.
- Children 8th grade through High School usually will gather once in the late fall/winter and the majority of formation takes place in January, February, and March.
- Adults (18 and older) will do foramtion in January, February and March.
- In both cases, the Sacrament of Confirmation is then celebrated with the Bishop in the Easter Season. For more information contact Albie Leko at aleko@stritaschool.com.
- Children or adults who are older than seven years of age and have been baptized or not, but have received no formal religious training in the Catholic faith, would take part in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (adapted for children…if you are a youth). This process of preparation begins in September for adults and October for children and continues through the year until Pentecost. Both adults and children in this process celebrate their full initiation into the church (Baptism if necessary, Confirmation and First Communion) at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. For more information contact Albie Leko at aleko@stritaschool.com.
